It has been so long since I have written on my blog, and there is so much to write about that there is no way I could put it all on Facebook in 520 characters. It has been so busy that I have not had time to even jot down everything so let me start about 2 weeks ago….from the last time I posted on Facebook.
First off, since I moved from Korea about two months ago,
training has been so sporadic I can’t get into a rhythm. I usually ride my bike to and from work at least 3 to 4 times a week, and the only reason I take a car up to work is so I can have the clothes I need throughout the week. With regards to running, I try to use Hal Higdon’s running program but two weeks ago when I ran a 14 miler; I
bruised the bottom outside of my right foot some how. I am only doing short runs for the time being and on a track. In addition, I try to swim 3 times a week at the base outdoor pool, which will be closing at the end of the month, so I have to look for another pool. I just hope with the lack of planning and working out that I am not losing my base. In addition to all the lack of training, things are busy around the household as we are still unpacking boxes.
About two weeks, while still unpacking boxes, it seems that I came down with a sinus infection/cold. That put me out of training for about 2-3 days and it came at a time in which we were going to travel to San Antonio to visit some family during the long Labor Day weekend.

(Eating at a Mexican Restaurant...haven't eaten at one in 2 years)
We almost did not travel because we didn’t want to spread my “cold”, but I am glad we did. As soon as we arrived in San Antonio, we did not slow down. Not only did we catch up with the family but we also saw most of our friends. On the down side, we didn’t get to meet with some of our other military friends because they have moved away. After the long weekend, catching up with friends, and 8-hour drive, I got to look forward to some more news about family.
Ashley and I had a doctor’s appointment last Wednesday in regards to her pregnancy. Some of you may know that Ashley is about 25 weeks pregnant, but we never knew the sex. We were hoping for an ultrasound, but it seemed that it would not happen. The reason for not finding out is that we were referred to an off-base doctor in which there is a cost associated with everything. In the military, they would just move you to the next room and do the ultrasound. When we arrived at the off-base doctor, I thought I arrived in a spa parlor. The lights were dim with the sound of soft music playing and some light bulb candles were burning. It made me feel at ease. After filling out the ream of paperwork, or rather Ashley filled it out, they called us back. The back rooms were no different. The equipment was up to date and the people were especially nice. After the nurse came in and took all the vitals, we got a chance to hear the heart beat. It was beating at a 152 beats per minute. Ashley asked about the ultrasound and the nurse replied that it is usually done only at the 16-week mark, so it would seem we would not get one. When the nurse finished up, the doctor walked in. Ashley explained everything going on, and the doctor replied the baby seemed be ok. After this, we explained that we never got a chance to find out the babies sex, so he told us that he do one.
As we move to the next room, there was a nice plush leather coach against one wall with a giant flat screen on the other. The doctor’s office hooked up the tv to the ultrasound screen so a family could watch everything going on in mommy’s tummy. As the doctor was doing the ultrasound, we found out that we are having ANOTHER GIRL! I am very blessed to have another child and especially another girl, so it looks like the dog and I are the only males in the house now.
All in all it has been busy since we arrived in Oklahoma City. The house is beginning to come together and the family is beginning to settle down. Maybe now I can get into some rhythm of training…until Christmas when the baby is due.
